Village Style Appam & Chicken Stew Recipe – Appam | Chicken Curry


Ingredients

Chicken – 1 kg
Onion – 3 nos
Garlic – 19 to 20 nos
Ginger – 1 nos
Green chilli – 2 to 3 nos
Curry leaves – 2 or 3 sprigs
Potatoes – 1nos
Carrot – 2nos
Grated coconut – 1 cup
Pepper powder – 1 tbsp
Garam masala – 1 /2 tbsp
Salt – 1 or 2 tsp
Oil – 2 or 3 tbsp

Method

To begin, place cleaned chicken pieces in a pan.
Then add the crushed pepper powder and salt.
Pour a small amount of water,combine them well.
Then place the chicken mix pan on the heat.
Cover and cook until the chicken is well cooked.
Remove the lid and check whether the chicken is well cooked or not.
Once the chicken is well cooked, remove it from the fire and set it aside.
Take a bowl, add grated coconut and water.
Squeeze them well between your fingers.
Drain the fresh coconut milk and set it aside.
Again, add water to the squeezed coconut mix,
Squeezed them well and drain the thin coconut milk and set it aside.
Heat the oil in a pan and add the cinnamon and cardamom.
Then add the dry red chilies and thoroughly saute them.
Add chopped garlic ,ginger and curry leaves.
Saute them well for a few minutes.
Add chopped onion and saute them well.
Then season with salt and saute the onions until they are translucent.
Then add the cooked chicken mix.
Add chopped carrot and chopped potato.
Combine them thoroughly.
Now add the thin coconut milk and thoroughly combine.
cover and cook them well until the vegetables are well cooked.
Remove the lid and mix them well.
Again, add fresh coconut milk and mix them well.
Add some curry powders, like pepper powder and garam masala.
Mix them well for few minutes
Add chopped green chilli and curry leaves.
Mix them well and cook for 5 to 6 minutes.
Take the pan off the heat and set it aside.
Serve the tasty chicken stew with appam.

Appam preparation :
Then add salt to the fermented batter bowl and mix them well.
Heat the appachatty on a medium flame.
Grease the appachetty with a little oil.
Pour a ladle full of batter into the appachatty
Then lift the pan from the heat
Then slightly twist it around to spread the batter in the pan into a circular shape.
Cook on low heat with a lid until the edges are golden brown.
Remove the appam from the appachatty and place it on a plate.
Then repeat the same process for the balance of the batter.
Serve the tasty appam with chicken stew.
