Similar to Daulat ki Chaat, Malai Makhan or Makhan Malai (also called Nimish) is a sweet snack made from milk cream during the winters in North India especially in cities of Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi (and some other parts of Uttar Pradesh state). Makhan Malai is usually served garnished with pistachios, almonds, and silver leaf. It is known as Malaiyo or Mallaiyo ( मलइयो in Hindi) in Banaras (Varanasi).
