Smothered Ground Beef & Potato Bake with Homemade Brown Gravy
INGREDIENTS
Potato Layer
* 8–9 medium potatoes, peeled & sliced 1/4 -1/2inch thick
* Salt & black pepper, to taste
* 2 tbsp butter or oil
Ground Beef Layer
* 3 lbs ground beef (80/20)
* 2 medium onions, diced
* 4 cloves garlic, minced or 1/2 tbsp garlic paste
* 2 tsp onion powder
* 2 tsp garlic powder
* 1 tsp paprika
* 1 tsp black pepper
* Salt to taste
* 2 tsp beef bouillon powder
* 1 tsp CWT all-purpose seasoning
Homemade Brown Gravy
* 4 tbsp butter
* 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
* 4 1/2 cups beef broth (warm)
* 1 tsp beef bouillon (optional, enhances depth)
* 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
* 1 tsp onion powder
* 1 tsp garlic powder
* ½ tsp black pepper
* Salt to taste
* 1 tsp CWT all-purpose seasoning
* 1 tsp browning sauce is needed
Cheese (Optional but Recommended)
* 3 cups shredded mozzarella or Colby-Jack
* ½ cup grated parmesan
Garnish
* Fresh parsley (optional)
Baking Instructions
* Bake @ 375F for 30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
* Let rest 10-15 minutes before serving.
* Garnish with parsley if desired.
