Chicken : 1 kg
Green chillies : 6 to 8
Shahi jeera : 1 tea spoon
Cardamoms : 5
Cinnamon sticks : 4
Bay leaves : 2
Black cardamom/badi elaichi : 1
Cloves : 5
Pinch of yellow food color or saffron
Star anise : 2
Ghee : 3 table spoons
Ginger garlic paste : 3 table spoons
medium onions : 5
Curd/yogurt : 350 grams
Oil : 150ml
Lemon juice : 1 table spoons
Chilly powder : 1 tea spoon
Coriander powder : 2 tea spoons
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tea spoon
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves : 1/2 cup
Chopped mint leaves : 1/2 cup
Biryani masala powder : 1 tea spoons
Prunes/aloo bokhaarey : 10
Large potatoes : 10
Medium sliced tomatoes : 5
To cook rice :
Basmati rice : 1 kg
Salt : 2 tea spoons
Green chillies : 1
Shahi jeera : 1 tea spoon

Cinnamon sticks : 2 (2 inch size)
Bay leaves : 2
Tomato rings, lemon rings and some chopped coriander and mint leaves for topping along with 2 tea spoons of ghee
