Take oil in a pan. Add chana dalm mustard seeds, cumin seeds, peanuts and saute until they are golden brown in color. 2. Add garlic cloves of a full bulb and saute. 3. Next add thinly sliced onions and saute for 2-3 minutes. 4. Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, hing, salt, green chillies and mix well. 5. Add curry leaves and tamarind puree. Add water and mix well. 6. Cover the pot with a lid and cook for 4 minutes. 7. At this point, add the cooked rice and mix well (cook the rice with some salt). 8. Saute for 2 mins and then add the finely chopped coriander leaves. 9. Instant Onion Rice is ready to be served hot with potato fry/ fryums/ papad by the side. Instant Onion Rice is a one pot dish you can make instantly with freshly cooked rice or even leftover rice. I made this recipe with long grain basmati rice but you can also make this one with regular sona masoori rice or anything else also. This doesn't need too many vegetables except onions and a few condiments. Whenever you have less time to cook or to pack lunchboxes quickly, you make this recipe instantly and serve with any fried items by the side like potato fry/fryums/papad by the side.
