Learn how to cook/make Crispy Chilli Beef
Welcome to Xiao's Chinese Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei and my goal is to make your cooking simple and exciting. Ever since my Mother showed me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia, in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and learn new Chinese recipes.
Ingredients:
250g Rump Steak
4 Tbsp Cornflour
1 Tsp Sesame Seeds
90ml Orange Juice
1 Tsp Lemon Juice
4 Tbsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
1 Tsp Tabasco Sauce
1 Tbsp Light Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Water
1 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tbsp Cooking Oil
Salt To Taste
Method:
1. Slice the steak into thin strips and place into a large bowl
2. Add the cornflour and pinch of salt onto the beef, toss to ensure beef is lightly and even covered with cornflour, leave aside for later
3. Place the orange juice in a saucepan, add the lemon juice, soy sauce, Tabasco sauce, sweet chilli sauce, water & cooking oil, stir then bring to the boil, reduce the heat to low & simmer till thicken
4. Meanwhile, heat ½ litre of oil in a wok, place the beef into the hot oil and fry for about 5 minutes till crispy
5. Remove beef onto a dish
6. Turn heat to high for the sauce, add sugar to the sauce and stir
7. Turn off the heat, pour the sauce onto beef, sprinkle with sesame seeds, serve with rice or on its own
