Carne Asada

Carne Asada ??? Follow @drmattcooks for more recipes! Making carne asada is one of my favorite ways to transform a cheap cut of beef into something bursting with flavorful! I serve it here on a tostada with pico de gallo (recipe in my previous video). Traditionally skirt or flank steak is used. Be sure to cook it quickly just to medium rare (125-130F) to keep it tender. Enjoy! Ingredients: -1/2 lb flank or skirt steak -toppings of your choice -tortillas, tostadas, or rice to serve with it -lime and cilantro for garnish Marinade: -3 garlic cloves, finely chopped -1/2 cup finely chopped cilantro -1/4 cup neutral oil -1/4 cup soy sauce -3 tbs apple cider vinegar -2 tbs brown sugar -1 tsp ground cumin -1 tsp dried oregano -1 tsp paprika -1/2 tsp cayenne pepper -juice of 1 lime -juice of 1 orange Instructions: -add all of the marinade ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix well -add the meat directly to the bowl and cover with a lid; alternatively, add the meat and marinade into a gallon bag and seal it tightly -allow the meat to marinade in the fridge for at least two hours but preferably overnight -when ready to cook, remove the meat from the fridge and allow to sit at room temperature for 20 minutes -heat a cast iron skillet or grill to high heat -sear the meat for 3-4 minutes on one side and 2-3 minutes on the other side until internal temperature is 125-130F -remove the meat from the heat and allow to rest for at least 10 minutes before cutting into small pieces -use the meat to create tacos, tostadas, rice bowls, etc. -add toppings and garnish with fresh lime juice and cilantro -enjoy! #carneasada #tacos #mexicanfood #chipotle #beef #tostadas #grilling #healthyrecipes #easyrecipes #tacotuesday #picodegallo #healthyfood #cleaneating #dinnerideas #marinade #easymeals #highprotein #homemadefood #quickmeals #eatclean #eathealthy #portioncontrol #leangains #foodie
