Butter Chicken or Chicken Makhanwala is an all time favourite recipe from the kitchens of India. Chicken recipes like Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Masala are always enjoyed but Butter Chicken is one of those Indian recipes which have echoed its taste all across the globe.
The creamy buttery taste of chicken with Indian spices like bay leaf (tej patta), cinnamon (dalchini), and peppercorns (kali miri) make this recipe a perfect mouth watering food for any chicken lover.
Recipe:
Ingredients-
900 Grams of Chicken
1 Cup of Tomato Puree
2 Medium Sized Chopped Onions
2 Chopped Green Chillies
1-2 Teaspoons of Ginger Garlic Paste (Adrak Lehsun Paste)
5-6 Cloves (Laung)
5-6 Peppercorns (Kali Mirch)
2 Small Pieces of Cinnamon (Dalchini)
1 Teaspoon of Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
3-4 Dried Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
¼ Teaspoon of Turmeric Powder (Haldi Powder)
2 Teaspoons of Coriander Seed Cumin Seed Powder (Dhana jeera Powder)
3 Teaspoon of Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch Powder)
1.5 Teaspoon of Garam Masala
3 Teaspoons of Clarified Butter
2 Teaspoons of Butter
Salt
Method-
1. Heat 3 Teaspoon of clarified butter (ghee) and 2 Teaspoons of butter.
2. Once the butter melts add peppercorns (kali mirch), cloves (laung), cinnamon (dalchini) and bay leaf (tej patta)
3. Stir the spices well. Now add cumin seeds and sauté it.
4. Add finely chopped onions and fry the onions till they brown.
5. Add the green chillies and sauté the ingredients well.
6. Add the ginger-garlic paste (adrak-lehsun paste).
7. Fry the paste well.
8. Add the tomato puree and sauté it well with all the ingredients.
9. Close the lid and cook for 5-7 minutes.
10. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chilli powder (lal mirch powder) and garam masala.
11. Mix the Indian spices well.
12. Now add the juicy fresh boneless chicken and cover it well with masala.
13. Add salt as per taste and mix it well.
14. Close the lid and cook for 10-15 days.
15. Now top it with fresh butter and butter chicken is ready.
