Chicken bhuna masala recipe - In this video learn how to make chicken bhuna masala at home. This bhuna chicken is spicy with a perfect balance of sweet & sour taste coming from the onion & the tomatoes.
Ingredients to make chicken bhuna masala
To marinate the chicken:
500 gm chicken
1/4 cup Curd/Yogurt
1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
To make chicken bhuna masala
1 tsp oil
2 tsp Ghee/clarified butter
Whole spices:
1 dried red chili
1 tsp cumin
1-inch cinnamon
5 cloves
3 green cardamom
10 peppercorns
1 black cardamom
2 bay leaf (small)
Other ingredients:
3 onions, medium size, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
6 tomatoes, medium size
Salt to taste
2 Green chilies
1/2 tsp Chicken masala powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp Kasoori methi (roasted & crushed)
1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
How to make chicken bhuna masala
Firstly, marinate the chicken & keep it aside for 30 minutes.
Heat oil & sauté the whole spices.
Add onions and sauté until translucent.
Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until raw smell from ginger & garlic leaves.
Next, add red chili powder, cumin & coriander powder. Sauté till oil is released from the spices.
Add tomatoes, salt & cook until tomatoes are pulpy.
Add marinated chicken & cook it for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, add 1 cup water, green chilies & chicken masala powder.
Cover & cook for 15 minutes.
Lower the flame and add lemon juice, kasuri methi & coriander leaves. Cover & cook for 10 minutes.
Chicken bhuna masala is ready to serve.
Serve chicken bhuna masala hot with Roti/Naan.
