Beef & Gravy Rice Bake (1-Pound Version)
Oven: 375°F
Ingredients
Beef
* 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
* ¾ tsp salt
* ¾ tsp black pepper
* 1 tsp garlic powder
* 1 tsp onion powder
* ¾ tsp paprika
* ½ tsp Italian seasoning
* 1 tsp CWT all-purpose chicken seasoning
* 1 tsp beef bouillon
Gravy & Rice
* 1 small onion, diced
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 2 tbsp butter
* 2 tbsp flour
* 2¼ cups beef broth (warm)
* 1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
* ½ tsp browning sauce (optional)
* 1/2 tsp CWT all-purpose chicken seasoning
* ¾ cup uncooked long-grain white rice (rinsed)
* ½ cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
* Salt & pepper to taste
Optional Topping
* ¾–1 cup shredded cheddar, colby jack, etc:
* Fresh parsley (garnish)
Instructions
1. Brown the beefIn a skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef until fully cooked.Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and Italian seasoning, CWT all-purpose chicken seasoning, and beef bouillon.Drain excess grease and set beef aside.
2. Make the gravy baseIn the same skillet, melt butter.Add diced onion and cook 4–5 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
3. Create the roux Sprinkle flour over onions and stir continuously for 1 minute.
4. Add liquids Slowly whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and browning sauce. Simmer until gravy thickens.
5. Combine Stir in heavy cream.Add browned beef and rinsed rice.Taste and adjust seasoning.
6. Bake Pour mixture into a greased 8x8 baking dish. Cover tightly with foil and bake 40 minutes.
7. Finish uncovered Remove foil, add cheese if using, and bake 10–15 minutes until bubbly and rice is tender.
8. Rest Let sit 5–10 minutes before serving so everything sets.
