Chicken Biryani is of the most favorite Indian non-vegetarian dishes. There are many ways to cook Biryani but from this video, you can learn how to cook a simple and easy Chicken Biryani in a pressure cooker.

Prep Time: 40 mins
Cook Time: 15- 20 mins
Servings: 2-3 persons

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice – 1/2 kg
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Oil – 3 tbsp
Whole spices
Onion – 2 nos (thinly sliced)
Ginger garlic paste – 1tbsp
Tomato – 2 nos (small size chopped)
Masala paste – 4 tbsp
Briyani powder – 2tbsp
Garam masala – 1tsp
Coriander leaves – 1 bunch
Mint leaves – 1 bunch
Water – as required
Salt to taste

To Marinate Chicken
Chicken – 1/2 kg
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam masala – 1tsp
Coriander powder – 1tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 1tsp
Curd – 1tbsp
Lemon – 1/2
Salt – 1/2 tsp

To make Masala Paste

Shallots – 4-5 nos
Green chilli – 4-5 nos
Coriander leaves – 1 cup
Mint leaves – 1 cup
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Water – 4 to 6 tsp

(Note: The above measurements are for 1/2Kg of rice)

Method for Masala Paste:

Grind the masala paste with above ingredients.

Suggestion: Avoid refrigeration. Try make the masala paste fresh. Fresh masala will give a nice aroma and taste to your biryani.

Marinating Chicken:
1. Marinate the chicken .
2. Let it aside for 30 minutes.

Soaking The Rice:
1. Soak the Basmati Rice in water for 30 minutes & strain the water.
2. Let it aside for another 30 minutes.

This is the Pressure cooker Chicken Biryani recipe.
1. Heat the cooker and add 2 large tbsp of oil & 1 tbsp of ghee.
2. once the oil and ghee is heated, Add the whole spices. (Cinnamon, Cloves, anti seeds and Bay leaf)
3. Add the sliced Onions & sauté till it becomes brown.
4.Add 1tbsp ginger garlic paste.
5. Add the finely chopped Tomatoes.
6.Add the Masala paste and sauté to the consistency where the oil in it gets separated, Then add 2tbsp of biryani masala powder and 1tsp of garam masala. mix well the mixture.

Allow the mixture to cook till the raw smell goes off

7. Once the raw smell goes off add the marinated Chicken pieces, rice water and salt. mix well everything
8. Add Coriander leaves ,mint leaves and ghee.

Note: Check for seasoning, add more salt if needed.

9. Cover the lid with whistle pressure cook it for 2 whistles.
10. Wait till the pressure is gone
