It is characterized by blister-like rashes that first occur on the face & then spread throughout the body. Although it is usually seen in children, adults with a weak immune system can also suffer from this condition. ----------------------------- Symptoms to look for: • Fever • Headache • Sore throat • Weakness • Skin rashes ----------------------------- Causes: • Common in people who have weak immune system ----------------------------- Food groups to consume in chicken pox: 1. Simple Carbohydrates:They boost body’s energy levels & counter weakness Foods to consume: Rice, wheat porridge, potatoes, oats and bananas 2. Vitamin A & C: Strengthen the immune system and helps fight infection Foods to consume: Oranges, lemons, watermelon, papaya, carrots, cucumber, beetroots, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes and sprouts 3. Wheat grass juice: It has strong detoxification properties which help to fight infections 4. Include turmeric in diet as it is a natural antiseptic and fights free radicals in the body. It also helps reduce the skin rashes 5. Probiotics: Adds good bacteria in the gut and strengthens the immune system Foods to consume: Yogurt ----------------------------- Recipes based on the above food groups: Recipe 1: Rice & potato meal 1. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan 2. Add ½ tsp cumin seeds and wait till it crackles 3. Now add 2 tbsp chopped onions 4. Sauté till the onions turn transparent 5. Once the onions are done, add ½ cup chopped tomatoes in it 6. Add a pinch of grated ginger 7. Also add a pinch of turmeric 8. Mix and sauté this for about 5 minutes 9. Now add 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves. 10. We have boiled and sliced 2 potatoes. Add these to the mixture 11. Add salt to taste 12.Give this a gentle mix 13. Finally, add 1 cup cooked rice and mix all these ingredients properly 14. Garnish with some freshly chopped coriander and serve hot Recipe 2: Banana & oats smoothie 1. Add ½ cup water in a vessel, and allow it to boil 2. Now add 1 tbsp oats in the water. Keep stirring 3. Let the oats cook & once done set the vessel aside and allow the contents to cool 4. Once the oats have cooled down to room temperature, add them to the blender 5. Also add 1 chopped banana in the blender. 6. Add 1 cup yogurt 7. Also add ½ cup milk 8. Add 1 tbsp honey 9. Blend this all well 10.
