I literally spend the entire day in the kitchen today and bring you along for all of it. I whip up some family favorite ground beef meals, can tomatoes, and make a giant triple batch of banana bread.

Banana Bread
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
2 eggs
1/3 c. sour milk
2-3 very soft bananas
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nuts, if desired
Mix in order given until combined, but be gentle. Add nuts if desired. Spray 9x5 bread pan. Bake in slow (300 degree) oven for 40-60 minutes depending on the size of bread pans.
Calico Beans
1/2 lb. bacon
1 lb. hamburger
1 c. chopped onion
1 can pork and beans
1 can butter beans
1 can green lima beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can garbanzo beans
1/2 c. ketchup
1 tsp. salt
1 T. vinegar
1 tsp. dry mustard
3/4 c. brown sugar (I use a scant 1/2 c.)
Fry bacon and set aside. Brown hamburger and onion. Then place every ingredient into crockpot including the meats. Cook on low all day or until hot and very fragrant.
